Emily's Journey

Emily's journey started on Friday 8 January, 2010 where it was discovered that after some time of being unwell, her body has actually been fighting cancer. This site is dedicated to those who want to encourage her through this journey.

Day 45 – Sunday 21 February, 2010

Here is a picture of Emily with her friend Mel (the friend she shared a room with one night in CHOC).  Emily is enjoying some baking.

The Wooddins have had a fantastic weekend at home.

Today they went on an outing together for the first time in weeks.  Emily wanted to spend some of her money at The Warehouse buying some girly DVD’s and a toy.  Jack and Charlotte were also rewarded for coping so well with all the changes effecting their family.  Later Emily said to Kath, “It was really nice at The Warehouse today because a girl looked at me and didn’t even look at me funny, she just smiled”.

Last night they enjoyed celebrating cousin Keanan’s birthday. While playing out on the street, his neighbours asked about her tubes.  Emily confidently explained what they are for before moving on to the more important topic of when their birthdays are.

Kath and Gary want to say thank you to everybody for the meals. They are especially valuable at this time given that they are incredibly busy while based at home with day visits to the hospital.  It is taking a lot of pressure off when they’re not having to think about what is for dinner.

While Emily is in good spirits, they are cherishing the fun times they are getting together. As they move forward with treatment they are uncertain of how Emily will react.  For this reason, they are making the most of every ‘well’ moment.

Hi Gary and Kath

I have been following Emilys progress since Steve told me the news. You have a truly amazing little girl there. She always has the most beautiful smile on her face.
Was great to read the positive news you received.

Good to hear also that you had a family day out. Must have been great to have some normality returned to your life if only for a short time.
It is so amazing how children cope so well with change. Jack and Charlotte seem to be taking it all in their stride. I think it must be down to their well adjusted parents – well done.
Thinking of you all every day.

Hope all went well for Emily today…well best it can be under the circumstances.

My heart felt warmed that you had all been out together, yesterdays weather was pefect to do that too.

HUGS for today and every day katherine…..
just look toward tomorrow it will always come…and with different things you will have to deal with.
These “Good” times we have waited for with our hearts low now they are raised a little for you all.

Night is just the time when shadows happen,
The day will come and we need not fear anymore,
of those shadows. They are gone for now.
