Emily's Journey

Emily's journey started on Friday 8 January, 2010 where it was discovered that after some time of being unwell, her body has actually been fighting cancer. This site is dedicated to those who want to encourage her through this journey.

Filed under: Emily Update — Vanessa Palmer at 4:38 pm on Tuesday, October 30, 2012

A memorial service to celebrate Emily’s life will be held on Sunday, 4th November 2012 at the Rolleston Community Centre, Rolleston Drive at 2pm.  Please wear colour (Emily’s favourite colour was orange – even if she always wore pink!).  This celebration is being planned with children in mind.

Please ensure your shoes are non-marking, stiletto heels are not allowed in the stadium.

Kath and Gary have requested no flowers.  In lieu of flowers, you may wish to make a donation to a charity of your choice.

Emily

So many byways she traveled along her extraordinary but brief journey….carried along by the love of her parents and communities, by the wicked yet life-sustaining medicines that brought us all a couple extra years with her. Emily, big sister, Bananagram Superstar, poker faced kid, blooming artist, beloved and heroic child of our lives… you were so very much loved.

Dear, dear Kath, Gary and family. So sad that this time has come. I’m sitting reading through the last entries from her blog and remembering what a special little girl she was, and always will be. We have photos of Em, Abby and Phoebe at their ‘pump party’ on CHOC, with face paints and bling nails, our shining girls! Emily touched so many hearts through her journey, and what a tribute to her wonderful family. You have all been admirable and an inspiration. All our love to you, and the children. Emily will live on in many hearts and minds. Xxx Gavin, Kat, Phoebe and Angus xxxx

Katherine and Gary, we cannot imagine how you are feeling at this sad time. We remember Emily as a happy smiling little girl who you were so proud of. Both of you have been amazing parents to your children through this trying time and I know that this will make all of you all stronger in the end. Our thoughts are with you both and I will wear orange on Sunday. (John dosn’t have anything orange – Not his colour). Give our love to Sherilyn and Tom, you are all in our thoughts. You were born to be a great mum, Katherine, and you definitely have achieved this with all your children. Love to everyone, Linda and John Jacobs.
