Emily's Journey

Emily's journey started on Friday 8 January, 2010 where it was discovered that after some time of being unwell, her body has actually been fighting cancer. This site is dedicated to those who want to encourage her through this journey.

Goodbye and Thank You

The original purpose of this blog was to keep people informed throughout Emily’s Journey.

Yesterday a celebration was held to remember her life. We all have our own memories and will keep her in our hearts.

This blog will not be updated again as we give Emily’s family privacy to grieve and forge a new ‘normal’ for their lives.

The support generated through this blog has been tremendous.  Thank you.

And also, we’d like to let you know that the money raised recently covered all expenses and allowed for Kath and Gary’s wishes to be carried out without the burden of financial pressure.  Thank you so much for this support.  We will now be closing the account.

Vanessa and Leona

Thank you to everyone who started this blog and for sharing Emily’s journey and allowing people like me, who live the other side of the World to be part of the journey that Emily had to take. I am glad that i could give my support to a wonderful family, who loved Emily so dearly, but sorry that i didn’t know Emily well enough. Emily will always b around you where ever u are and what ever u are doing. God bless you Emily. I also want to thank Sherilyn and Tom , because without knowing them, then i would not have known Emily. xxxxoooooxxxxx

Thank you so much for this blog and for sharing Emily with us. Kath and Gary you have taught me so much in parenting through hard times and still seeing the rainbow.
Emily’s memory will live on in so many hearts, her memorial was just beautiful, a real tribute to a special wee girl.
Again thank you for allowing us in as part of this journey.

Thank you Vanessa and Leona for all the support you had given the Wooddin family over Emily’s journey, This blog has been tremendous. Without your support towards Kath and Gary who knows how this would have ended.. You guys have been Amazing!

Kath and Gary, Emily was an awesome girl, she definitely gave me courage to push through any difficult situation, she never felt sorry for herself and I know she will always be my HERO… She is my Idol!! She had more courage than I and probably more courage than any adult, She always thought of others and put herself second, love you Emily.

We have many memories of Emily and as always all good. Keanan and Jake loved her dearly and I know it breaks their heart to depart from her. It breaks my heart too.

As you know we will always be there for you Kath and Gary when ever you need us.. We think “What next? What happens now?” I don’t know what happens now but all I know is Steve and I as well as everyone else will be here to support you in anyway possible.

Lots of Love The Plucks xoxoxoxo

Dear Vanessa and Leona,
It was nice to meet the two of you while farewelling Emily. Kath is truly blessed to have such caring and supportive friends (and by extension, Gary and the children too!).
I am sure that there are many (sadly) children who will face this disease head-on. If Emily’s Journey helps just one find a different path, lights one parent’s sleepless night, this little lady’s courage and determination will endure.
Love to you all.
Kim

Jacob told me yesterday when I asked how everyone in 8B3 was doing,”well mum it’s just like the song, ‘when someone you care about dies, there is never enough tears shed’, we are ok mum but we will never forget”, Thank you for letting us share your journey and I know Emily’s memory will certainly stay with Jacob especially her smile. Take care always

Thank you so much for keeping us informed via this blog for the last 3 years Vanessa and Leona. Katherine and Gary are so lucky to have such supportive friends, and Sunday’s celebration was testament to that.

We will be keeping the link to the blog so that when she’s ready, we can use it to help Sadie look back to remember Emily’s Journey.

Sending much love to all of those Emily has left behind and who feel the pain of her loss. Whilst the pain will fade in time, the treasured memories will always stay with us.

Rest peacefully Em; sleep well sweetheart.
