Day 10 – Sunday 17 January, 2010
Emily was visited today by her brother, Jack, and her cousin, Jaymee.
Kath went out yesterday afternoon to attend a friend’s wedding ceremony which she really enjoyed. Last night Gary stayed in the hospital with Emily while Kath had a comfortable night at home. Emily had an unsettled night but has managed to get some sleep throughout the day today.
Yesterday afternoon Emily was given another blood transfusion which perked her up a bit. Today she had a few procedures done under sedation. She tolerated this well and even thanked the nurses cos ‘it didn’t even hurt’.
Many people have expressed concern regarding Kath’s pregnancy. She is being closely monitored by her midwife and is eating and sleeping better now that the initial shock has sunken in.

I heard of your terrible news recently and just wanted to send my heart felt wishes to you and your family. I was Emilys and Jacks preschool teacher in the nursery at halswell preschool. You are such a lovely family and have a very brave little girl. All the best will be thinking of you

I have to agree with Rebecca and say what a great job Venessa and Leona are doing, it is a great help and comfort to all of Gary’s and Kath’s family and friends in the UK to keep up with things and send our messages of support. Thank you girls XXXXX

Such an awful time for you. As parents we can but imagine what you are going through and our thoughts are truly with you. Emily is a lovely girl, and I had the privilege of getting to know the kids in Room 4 whilst doing parent help – Logan really does admire Emily’s abilities, he came home from school one day and said “Mum I want to be a good reader like Emily and Alicia”
Thanks to the girls doing this blog, we will watch it and cheer Emily on in her fight.

To everyone writing these lovely messages on this site, I thank each and everyone of you, its bringing a tear to my eye reading them all and the support has just been amazing, Katherine and Gary are so lucky to have so many friends and to my friends a big thankyou as well

I’ve just been speaking to Holly and have heard the news about your darling little girl. I really don’t know what to say, but I really wanted to let you know that our thoughts are with you and your beautiful family. It’s absolutely heartbreaking news.
